Ukrainians who have received temporary protection in Spain have the right to renounce it. The main reasons for doing so include relocating to another country, employment, or family circumstances.

Where to Apply?

To formally renounce temporary protection, you must personally submit an application at:

  • Reception, Assistance, and Referral Centre for Displaced Persons from Ukraine (CREADE)it is possible to check the appointment schedule in advance.
  • The nearest police station with the foreigner affairs department. The list of such offices can be found here: Offices of the Spanish Police.

Renunciation Procedure

  • Write a statement specifying your personal data, reason for renunciation, and the name of the official receiving the document.
  • Obtain a certified copy of the statement with an official stamp and submission date.
  • If you have already been issued TIE (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero), you must return it.

! Important: Spain currently does not allow renouncing temporary protection remotely.

Documents After Renunciation

Once your temporary protection status is canceled, your only valid document for travel outside Ukraine remains your Ukrainian international passport. Ensure that it is still valid, and if renewal is required, contact the Ukrainian consulate in Spain.
